Our Mission

Who We Are

We are Keep Wellington Green—neighbors, families, equestrians, and everyday residents united by a shared love for this village.

We believe open space, once lost, can’t be replaced and that protecting it means protecting Wellington’s identity.

What began as a small Facebook group responding to one zoning proposal has grown into a vibrant, grassroots movement. Powered entirely by volunteers, we’ve filled meeting rooms, launched fundraising campaigns, and built a community that’s ready to stand up for what matters, our home.

Today, we’re growing stronger and bringing together voices from every corner of Wellington to protect what makes this place so special:

  • Our farmland and equestrian heritage

  • Our natural preserves and wildlife corridors

  • Our public parks and recreation spaces

  • Our village character and community values

What’s at Stake

What we stand to lose isn’t just open space. It’s the character of our community.

It was founded on open space, horse farms, and a way of life that celebrates nature, peace, and strong community connections.

But that way of life is facing real pressure from growing development interests - ones that don’t always align with the vision our village was built on.

  • Overdevelopment and rezoning
Land once protected is being targeted for high-density construction.

  • An equestrian industry threatened by the VOW
Equestrian and agricultural land being rezoned and over-developed for commercial and high-density residential use.

  • Loss of green space and natural habitats
Our preserves and parks aren’t just beautiful—they're critical to local wildlife and our connection to the Everglades.

  • Silencing community voices
Decisions are being made without real input from the people who live here.

Together, we have the power to protect the Wellington we love for generations to come.

Lets protect Wellington together
